Welcome to your October Update for the 2024 EGU General Assembly, to be held 14–19 April 2024, both on-site in Vienna, Austria, and virtually. To keep you up to date, we will be sending you important EGU24 information 'EGU24 Updates' at least once per month – at the beginning of the month. You will still receive direct emails when tasks have a specific deadline, so make sure you check your spam folders and settings so that you don't miss anything!

So, what do you need to do in October?

For conveners

• The Programme Committee will meet to finalize the session programme in late-October. Please check your email for a notification regarding your proposed session(s) on 1 November. The Call for Abstracts will open 1 November; you can begin advertising your session right away! If you would like to have a solicited speaker in your session, make sure you check the conditions that apply before approaching them. For more information about the sessions, head to the convener guidelines.
• GeoCinema will once again be accepting submissions from 16 October, more information will be available on the EGU24 website.
• Prepare your calendar with all the EGU24 important dates by checking our Deadlines and Milestones page.
• Curious about who organizes the EGU24 General Assembly? Meet the Programme Committee!

For authors

• The Call for Abstracts will open on 1 November. If you are looking for a head start the Provisional Programme is now online, though keep in mind that this list is not finalized until after 24 October.
