Welcome to your March Update for the 2024 EGU General Assembly, to be held 14–19 April 2024, both on-site in Vienna, Austria, and virtually. To keep you up to date, we will be sending you important EGU24 information 'EGU24 Updates' at least once per month – at the beginning of the month. You will still receive direct emails when tasks have a specific deadline, so make sure you check your spam folders and settings so that you don't miss anything!

So, what do you need to do in March?

For conveners

  • The letter of schedule will be sent out to authors on 7 March, with information about the scheduled day and time of your session. The full Meeting Programme will be available on the EGU24 website on the same day.
  • You can contact your authors using the Mailing Tool to make sure their presentation is displayed with the right status (on-site or virtual), and for any additional information you wish to convey.
  • Conveners must assign a chairperson to attend and co-ordinate each part of your session, for both on-site and virtual presentations. See the convener guidelines for more information.
  • Childcare booking will open on 08 March. EGU provides free childcare on-site, but places are limited, so please only book times that are a priority. Carers of children under the age of 3 can attend the meeting free of charge, in cases where attendance is only to assist the participation of geoscientist parents. Please check the registration website for details.
  • Last chance for early bird registration! Early bird registration is available until 18 March 2024, 13:00 CET. Regular price registration is available until the end of the conference. View all the registration fees and options on the EGU24 website.
  • Already registered for on-site participation? Check your name badge information and add stickers to indicate your Division, employment status and more, before they are printed and posted to you (participants from most European countries can choose to receive their name badges by mail prior to the conference if payment is received by 18 March)!
  • If you require a letter of invitation, final requests for these must be received by 18 March 2024, 13:00 CET.
  • The OSPP Nominator tool will open on 19 March, session conveners need to ensure at least 3 judges are assigned to each OSPP presentation. Check the convener guidelines for more information.
  • If you are convening a Union Symposia (US), Great Debate (GDB), or a Short Course (SC), it is time to add the speakers to your session description using the Session Modification tool. Please ensure that your panel is, at the minimum, following our recommendations for speaker diversity.
  • The session modification tool remains open for conveners to add public information to their session's description and contact the authors for any session-relevant issues through the mailing tool until 19 April 2024. For more information, check the convener guidelines & rules on our website.
